In Japan, all things, large or small, are given attention. The machine made thing is no less considered than the wooden lacquered tray, worked on for months. Whether it's a temple or a ginger grater, objects in daily life in Japan have been given thought and care and attention. For this exhibit, I've collected all of my household things from Japan and assembled them into a little show. I was inspired by the Zakka show we visited at 2121 Design space in Tokyo this past spring. On my trip, I collected papers, cards and more...and together with years of other things in my house, this show came to be. Please come sip tea and gaze at this prosaic yet astounding show. There are delicious Japanese teas to purchase too. Shinchas that will knock your Japanese socks off! Kanpei!
